Did you know…

People with a high school diploma live longer!

Is there an easy way to say “test”?  Apparently not, as our good old VoCats system has a new, more sophisticated name.  So here is the “catch”.  Out with the “VoCats system”; in with the new “Instructional Management System”.  At this point, this change is in terminology only, but read on for a glimpse at what is coming...

It is almost time to say good-bye to CMS95, the software which provides CTE teachers with our test item banks, allows the

creation of interim assessments, and where available, allows teachers to scan and score their interim assessments.  The Career & Technical Division of DPI recently announced plans to replace this software with a more technologically advanced assessment system.

According to “secret sources” at DPI, the new software may even allow for online testing with immediate feedback.  Oooh-Aaah!

Proficient or Not Yet Proficient” Replaces Performance Levels

The designations of “Proficient” or “Not Yet Proficient” are set to replace the previously used Performance levels for Course End CTE assessment results.  Beginning with the Fall 2008 CTE assessment results, we will no longer use performance levels (1,2,3, or 4) as in the past.

We will be using a proficiency cut-off level of 77 (bottom of a “C”).

Either a student is Proficient or Not Yet Proficient.  Your scoring reports will include both a numerical grade and a Proficient or Not Yet Proficient designation.

Note: The cut-off scores for determining scale scores are different for every

course based on the statistical analysis of the reliability data.

The proficiency

level of 77 is the same for ALL courses.
